  • Position Summary

    UICCU is now hiring for a Staff Accountant. This position will work closely with the Controller and the Sr. VP/Chief Financial Officer to coordinate and execute the financial and reporting duties and responsibilities of the credit union and subsidiary entities. This stable, precise, hard worker is responsible for ensuring that all general ledger accounts are balanced on a regular basis and will assist the Controller with external financial reporting and examinations as well as regulatory reporting.     Pay Range for this hourly position is $19.95 - $29.92 with a progressive benefits package.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include, but are not limited to those listed, and are subject to change:


    1. Adheres to the Credit Union's core values in serving with truth, trust, mentoring, openness, risk-taking, giving credit, integrity, caring and respect in carrying out the UICCU's mission and vision. 
    2. Demonstrates a positive member service (internal and external) focus at all times, greeting members and guests with a smile and eye contact immediately upon their arrival, using their name or acknowledging them and thanking them for their business.
    3. Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.
    4. Ensures confidentiality of member information.
    5. Provides quality member service to Credit Union staff and members by furnishing necessary information, assistance and/or answering questions.
    6. Plays a vital role in enriching the community by participating in community service organizations and/or credit union sponsored events, on an annual basis.



    1. Maintains and performs appropriate account reconciliations for all general ledger balance sheet account, on a regular, timely basis. 
    2. Works closely with other departments to rectify balancing issues and help create balancing efficiencies.
    3. Performs monthly accrual entries and assists with month-end closing process (including analysis).
    4. Performs record keeping along with performing daily and monthly reconciliations for all subsidiary entities of the organization.
    5. Assists in the preparation and distribution of miscellaneous monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
    6. Assists the Controller with regulatory reporting, including preparation of the NCUA 5300 Call Report.
    7. Assists and supports Controller in responding effectively to auditors as well as state and federal examiners, including coordinating requests, audit findings, ensuring inquires and responses are accurate, comprehensive and facilitate generally accepted accounting principles and financial compliance requirements.
    8. Assists and collaborates with the Leadership Team in the creation of the annual budget, under the direction of the Controller and Sr. VP/Chief Financial Officer
    9. Performs any other temporary or permanent duties as assigned by the Controller or Sr. VP/Chief Financial Officer.

    Job Requirements/Expectations

    1. Two or more years of related experience in a comparable position.
    2. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
    3. Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
    4. General knowledge and understanding of a financial institution’s products, services, and reports.
    5. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, including excel and word.
    6. Strong project management, problem solving, and analytical skills.
    7. High scanning accuracy with extreme attention to detail and a high level of overall accuracy.
    8. Self-directed nature with the ability to work independent of direct supervision while maintaining a focus on detail-oriented projects.
    9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    10. Resourceful and well organized with strong time management skills to manage and prioritize multiple work assignments efficiently.
    11. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees across the organization.
    12. Ability, availability and willingness to work additional and/or unconventional hours as demanded by the workload.
    13. Must be bondable.

    Reporting Relationship

    Reports to the Senior Vice President/Chief Financial Officer.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position is not responsible for the supervision of other employees.
