  • Position Summary

    UICCU is now taking applications for a Vice President/Account Resolutions Supervisor. This individual will have immediate and direct responsibility for the protection of the credit union’s financial assets by means of the assignment, scheduling, control, and coordination of all activities related to the collection of delinquent accounts. The successful candidate will directly supervise 20 employees, including but not limited to extensive telephone, written and person-to-person communication with and collection of past due and legal reserve accounts. The VP/Account Resolutions Supervisor will be responsible for the coordination and close interaction with legal counsel and for the direct representation of the credit union in district, state and federal civil, probate and bankruptcy court actions and proceedings. If you are a decisive self-starter who can motivate others and loves a challenge, we want to talk to you.

     

    The salary range for this position is $69,964.72 - $104,947.08 with a progressive benefits package.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include, but are not limited to those listed and are subject to change:

     

    1. Adheres to the Credit Union's core values in serving with truth, trust, mentoring, openness, risk-taking, communication, giving credit, integrity, caring, and respect in carrying out the UICCU's mission and vision.
    2. Demonstrates positive member service (internal and external) focus at all times, greeting members and guests with a smile and eye contact immediately upon their arrival, using their name or acknowledging them, and thanking them for their business.
    3. Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with co-workers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.
    4. Ensures confidentiality of member information.
    5. Contacts and confers with members by any legally permissible means necessary in order to determine the reason for delinquency and to arrange an appropriate course of action in order to remedy the situation.
    6. Makes recommendations for and implements appropriate action for those accounts that cannot be contacted, or on which satisfactory arrangements cannot be made.
    7. Maintains a detailed record of member financial status.  Records all communications and all collection activity.
    8. Follows-up on past due loans and credit cards; makes reasonable and practical arrangements for interest, partial, or full payments.
    9. Prepares information needed or required by collection agencies.
    10. Performs skip-tracing duties, as required.
    11. Coordinates the proper legal repossession and foreclosure of collateral securing delinquent accounts, and for the maintenance of that collateral while in the credit union's possession and for its appropriate and legal disposition.
    12. Represents the credit union in dealing with legal counsel, small claims, district, state and federal civil, bankruptcy and probate courts, repossession agencies, and collection and/or credit counseling agencies, as required.
    13. Reviews past due accounts and collection activities with appropriate department leaders and provides necessary reports to the Credit Committee.
    14. Conducts credit investigations and income verifications.
    15. Makes collection contacts to delinquent accounts, conducts field calls, and performs any tasks or duties in order to aid in collection of past due accounts.
    16. Cross-sells credit union products and services when appropriate.
    17. Stays abreast with current collections policies and procedures and trains employees in all phases of collection activities.
    18. Coordinates, tracks and monitors daily scheduling within those that report directly to this position including overtime, flexible time off, leave of absences, and prepares periodic tracking reports for the Human Resources department.
    19. Prepares and conducts performance evaluations, prepares documentation for retention in personnel files. Working with HR, recommends and implements disciplinary actions and appropriate staff counseling within the department as needed.
    20. Reviews and recommends revisions to department policy and procedures.  Assists in the development of new and revised policies and procedures.
    21. Makes underwriting decisions on loan applications that do not comply with lending policies, upon collector request.
    22. Plays a vital role in enriching the community by participating in community service organizations and/or credit union sponsored events on an annual basis.
    23. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned. 

    Job Requirements/Expectations

    1. Minimum seven years collection experience with thorough working knowledge of collection, consumer credit, real estate, and bankruptcy laws and regulations or equivalent experience; a minimum of three years supervisory experience with demonstrated leadership ability and team building skills preferred.
    2. Working knowledge of Federal and State collections codes.
    3. Ability, availability, and willingness to work flexible hours to accomplish work load.  At times length of working day can be unpredictable, must be willing and able to work early and/or stay late with short notice.
    4. Ability and desire to interact with co-workers to develop positive and effective working relationships in all areas of credit union services.
    5. Interpersonal skills necessary to gather data from a number of sources and to represent positively the credit union during such contact.
    6. Demonstrated proficiency in both oral and written communication.
    7. Ability to prioritize work assignments and organize work efficiently, to meet established deadlines.
    8. Well developed problem solving skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives.
    9. Ability to plan, organize, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. 
    10. Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects.
    11. Accuracy and attention to detail.
    12. Proficiency with related computer applications, spreadsheets, word processing, and database applications.
    13. High school diploma or the equivalent (e.g. GED).
    14. Must be bondable.

    Reporting Relationship

    Reports to the Senior Vice President/Operations.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position is responsible for the supervision of all Account Resolutions employees.
